We are pleased to announce that Mission Fleet is now active in hurricane-hit Port Aransas, Texas (and surrounding areas) to help with reconstruction efforts and to minister to this area. Since Harvey, many of the residents of this town and others nearby have simply left. Only 1 out of 5 business is left open even after all of these months. There are very few churches in the area - and many of the volunteers have left - but the cleanup is ongoing. The reminders of the devastation are everywhere - from 4-story piles of garbage, miles long along the side of the highway, to ruined neighborhoods and families who have lost everything. The average offer many of these people are getting is about $0.20 on the dollar for insurance damages. Help is scarce, and volunteers are badly needed.
Mission Fleet will continue to help this area until our boats are ready to make the passage southeast to the Caribbean this spring. We will be helping local business and residents with cleanup and reconstruction while hosting Bible-studies and prayer groups in the area to make disciples and leave something meaningful for the Kingdom of God behind.
Please pray for Port Aransas - the harvest is great, but the workers are few; therefore beseech the Lord of the Harvest to send workers into His fields. Pray that hearts and minds would be opened for us and for the task to which we have been called - and finally please pray for us - that God would give us what we need to survive. We have embraced a form of poverty in doing this mission - and we live on a dock which lacks power and water. Our on-board systems mostly work, but still need work to function optimally, which makes life hard for us; but this is a hardship we gladly embrace for Jesus Christ and this amazing task to which He has called us. Please keep us in your prayers, and if God so moves your heart - donate to Mission Fleet to support our mission and help us reach people on the Texas Coast.
Our missionaries travel the world by sea - bringing the good news to the islands and coastlands.
Our unique, seaborne approach to long term missions provides unique opportunities to collaborate with and serve church plants, other missionaries, and those escaping persecution.
